Our Mission

Charlene Smadello
Owner/Director of Education and Vocational Training
Charlene Smadello is the founder of Striveworks Learning Institute (SLI). She is leading Striveworks Learning Institute’s operational plan that is uniquely offering customized quality career training with a competitive and accelerated delivery model.
Before launching her business she was part of the creative learning team at Mosaic Vocational School. Prior to her involvement with this school she tenured at the University of the Fraser Valley. While working in the corporate environment she had plenty of opportunity to expand her portfolio across various capacities including instructing, coordinating, assisting and leading a program. However her passion and energy for career education was founded even earlier when she was employed by two Provincial School Districts: Chilliwack and Maple Ridge. She absolutely loved to help students plan to reach their learning potential and career goals and this is when her vision and dream to provide schooling opportunities for others was contrived.
Charlene Smadello has returned to Vancouver Island and is residing in her birthplace in beautiful Nanaimo. She takes comfort living and working close to natural lake waters and the forever inspirational ocean. Along with her husband she is co-parenting their four children ages 18, 16, 8 & 4.
